Kissmetrics Review

Kissmetrics was an early pioneer in people-centric analytics but has lost significant ground to Mixpanel, Amplitude, and PostHog. The platform still works but development has slowed and the product feels like it is coasting.

Pros

  • People-centric tracking ties events to individual users across sessions
  • Revenue reporting is well-suited for SaaS and e-commerce
  • Funnel and cohort analysis covers the core use cases
  • Simple setup for basic tracking implementations

Cons

  • Product development has visibly stalled compared to competitors
  • UI feels dated and lacks the polish of modern analytics tools
  • Community and ecosystem have largely migrated to alternatives
  • Pricing is not competitive given the feature set

Pricing

From $299/mo for Silver / Gold and Enterprise tiers available

Best for: Small SaaS companies already using Kissmetrics who do not want to migrate

Our Verdict

Kissmetrics had a strong start but has been overtaken. There is no compelling reason to choose it over Mixpanel, Amplitude, or PostHog today. If you are already on it, evaluate migration costs — but for new implementations, look elsewhere.
